With the rising price of fuel, Stony Creek sought out alternate methods of supplying aggregates and topsoil to meet their rising demand across the tri-state area. Ultimately it was decided that barges would be the most efficient. Stony Creek’s deep water port has allowed for this venture.
Barges are shipped out weekly to various destinations across the New York and New Jersey areas and our waterways have proven to be an intricate pathway to landfills and abandoned quarries for our material. The barges hold approximately 2500 yards and can be shipped anywhere along the Atlantic coast. The barged material is mostly used to cap abandoned landfills, Brownfield’s and to fill up abandoned quarries to prevent water damage and for safety reasons.
